“Women are the largest untapped reservoir of talent in the World.” Hillary Clinton, American Politician and former First Lady of United States
Today marks a very important day not only in the GEC but for the wider entrepreneurial community as we celebrate the “femalepreneurs”. National Women’s Enterprise day celebrates the women that are #makingithappen and recognises the great impact that such female led businesses have for our economic growth. Let’s work to make the future female. Now more than ever, we need to be promoting the importance of women in business. By supporting these women, we can empower the next generation of girls who have the potential for being their very own Girl Boss.
Here at the GEC, we are always looking to attract female founders to choose our centre as their soft landing pad. While there may be less female led starts ups as opposed to their male counterparts, we encourage women to use this as leverage. One way that we empower female entrepreneurs is by collaborating with Enterprise Ireland’s Competitive State Fund for Female Entrepreneurs and Female-led Start Ups.
This competition is ran with our management company, Dublin BIC , who select top performing female entrepreneurs to participate in the 12 week programme. This programme has been very successful for the participants as it prepares them to become investor ready, helps them build their scalability and expands their network with their fellow female participants. We will be welcoming this years CSF ladies here on October 22nd where they will be based here for the duration of the programme.
Our very own GEC client, Sonia Neary of Wellola, participated in the CSF competition last year and moved in shortly after. When asked about her experience with the CSF competition Sonia said “I couldn’t underestimatae the support and learnings gleaned from my peers and mentors on these accelerator programmes.” It is a pleasure to be part of her business journey and to see her and the business continually grow. Check out this year’s participant’s in the video:
We must admit it is pretty hard not to feel inspired by these heroines when you see them grow and flourish!
Whatever your business, sector or stage, celebrate the women around you today. Here’s to the one’s that raised us, colleagues that mentored you and the ones that inspired us. Be sure to honour them today in any way you can. Happy National Women’s Enterprise Day from all of us at the GEC!
