06 Dec Why you should apply for Google Adopt a Startup Programme in 2017?
In the words of GEC Client Emmett Gallagher, co-founder of new social media content management platform Warbble who were selected for 2016’s programme…
Like any program that you apply for there are pros and cons. We took the decision to apply last year for one reason and one reason only: profile raising. Which we will come back to later however what we actually got from the program was so much more…
1: Virtual team: Google will give you three experts that match your business, generally from Sales, Tech and Product. Not only will you get access to your own virtual team but their brief is to introduce you to other teams and areas within Google. We were on calls with teams in The UK, Netherlands and Google HQ in Mountain view. The team we had were excellent and really added value to our organisation. The concept of 10X was not lost on us as an organisation and some of the ideas that we worked on a few months ago are now taking shape.
2: Access to some great Seminars: You will gain a deeper understanding of SEO, Analytics, Recruitment and Online Visibility. The insight we got here around setting adwords campaigns, optimising our site and getting recommendations around behavioral science was invaluable.
3: Fireside chat with Bill Liao: This was an excellent session which gave a great insight into his life before CoderDojo, The Hunger Forest and how you should approach investors.
Back to the profile raising piece. As a result of the program, we took a few calls from potential partners who wanted to work with us. One of these has proved to be very fruitful and has introduced the Warbble Brand to Norway, Canada and The Philippines.
The one thing we would say is if you are lucky enough to get to the final 30 then put the effort in to attend the workshops and seminars as your business will really benefit from it.
