31st August 2016
Fifty US CEOs choose Ireland and Northern Ireland to forge new business connections
INFE, IRELAND’S NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP, today announced the launch of the Pipeline Innovators Summit, happening in Ireland Sept 21-23. For the Summit, INFE will host a contingent of 50 American Founder CEOs in Dublin and Meath for three days of networking, knowledge sharing and learning to scale, in September, alongside its partner organisation Pipeline Entrepreneurs from Kansas City.
From September 21 to 23, the US entrepreneurs will join up to 50 of Ireland’s entrepreneurs to immerse themselves in a series of themed, ‘global scaling’ events, master sessions and round tables, closed workshops and a Grand Finale, ‘The Pipeline Cup,’ a Ryder Cup-style golf championship at Carton House in Maynooth. Forty of the Ireland-USA entrepreneurs will compete for the title on the world renowned Montgomery golf course, on Friday 23 September.
The three-day schedule of events will kick-off with Pipeline Fellowship Module class, round tables and a Master Session in Meath, at Boann Distillery, hosted by Boann’s founder, Pat Cooney, featuring ‘Tales of the Entrepreneurs,’ stories and conversations about growth challenges facing entrepreneurs to scale globally. Cooney along with other Irish entrepreneurs who have sold out previous businesses at over €60m each, and recently started again, will lead the conversations in a long table ‘Irish family style-banquet’ in the Boann Distillery, showcasing local artisan Boyne Valley produce. “This is a fantastic opportunity for us entrepreneurs here in Ireland to build on our strong Ireland/US relationships and create life-long friendships while finding ways to overcome challenges to scaling up. I am delighted to host the first gathering in Ireland of the Irish/American group of over 100, and share my story and hear of others who are facing similar challenges. I hope to learn something new and enjoy myself in the process. Huge planning and work has gone into the making of this event and I am proud to support and participate,” said Cooney.
Other Masters Sessions, Round Tables and the Pipeline Fellowship Module Classes are happening in Dublin at the world’s NUMBER ONE university associated business incubator, the Guinness Enterprise Centre, and the Guinness Academy 2 at the Guinness Storehouse.
The CEOs from both sides of the pond range from new entrepreneurs to leaders of established multi-national companies. They lead high-growth companies in biosciences, cyber security, web services, mobile and enterprise software, based all over the US and Ireland. As part of the week-long activities, the American group will spend two days in Belfast, Sept 19-20, for a host of similar sessions, featuring the “Pitch for the Throne,” at Queen’s University, whereby three NI companies pitching against three American companies, to see who takes a seat on the steel throne from Game of Thrones. Their week-long trip is part of the celebrations for Pipeline Entrepreneurs’ 10th anniversary.
“ Entrepreneurs are the life-blood of Ireland’s economy,” said Maree Helena, co-founder of INFE. “We have come to know Pipeline and its entrepreneurs and their sheer commitment to building high-growth companies, solving global problems. We can learn from the Pipeline Entrepreneurship Program and its impact as well as give Irish entrepreneurs the opportunity to forge life-long relationships with a network of like-minded founders who are facing similar challenges for scaling-up. I am very excited about the Summit and showcasing Irish entrepreneurs and their fantastic abilities and personalities that will make this event memorable. ”
One of the visiting CEOs from the US will be Jeff Hargroves, the president and founder of the ProPharma Group, a company posting $59M in annual revenue and on the Inc. 5000 list. About his upcoming visit, Jeff said: “Ireland is known for its strength in pharmaceuticals and biotech, and is an ideal location for my company to expand our European operations. These business interactions could not be more timely for me and other Pipeline members contemplating European and global expansion.”
Joni Cobb is president and CEO of Pipeline and has dedicated her career to strengthening business connections for the mid-West’s most promising business leaders. Alongside the CEOs from the mid-West she will bring national entrepreneurial experts from MIT, the Silicon Valley and Austin, Texas. She said, “We couldn’t think of a better highlight to our 10th year anniversary than taking our amazing entrepreneurial family to Dublin and Belfast to meet like-minded folks. Ireland is particularly attractive to us with our Midwest culture and work ethic being a tremendous hit with tenacious Irish entrepreneurs who know how to rely on themselves to build strong companies.”
The Events taking place in Dublin and Meath are being organised with the cooperation of Dublin BIC and Meath Enterprise and partnered by AIB. Catalyst Inc CONNECT has organised events taking place in Belfast, Northern Ireland along with its Partners.
INFE and CONNECT are coordinating the all-island visit, and entrepreneurs from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland are invited to participate in all of the events of the week, forging lifelong relationships between USA, Northern Ireland and Ireland.
